ECR 2014 attendance stays level at 20K

Attendance at ECR 2014 was largely at the same level as the 2013 congress, just above 20,000 total attendees, but there was significant growth in registration for live streaming video, according to official figures released by the European Society of Radiology (ESR).

A total of 20,010 radiology professionals attended this month's meeting in Vienna, down slightly compared with 20,098 attendees in 2013. ECR 2014 saw 11,532 professional delegates and 8,478 industry representatives, compared with 11,601 professional delegates and 8,497 industry attendees at ECR 2013.

ESR reported that its ECR Live program of live streaming video attracted 3,474 viewers, compared with about 3,000 viewers last year.

On a national basis, Germany took the top spot in terms of the countries sending ECR delegates, with 939 congress attendees compared with 962 at ECR 2013. Italy took the number two spot with 934 delegates, compared with 981 in 2013, while Austria rounded out the top three by sending 937 attendees, compared with 973 the year before.

The Russian Federation reported strong growth in attendance, sending 537 delegates in 2014 compared with 419 attendees in 2013, and securing the fourth spot among all countries. ECR 2014 President Dr. Valentin Sinitsyn, PhD, is a radiologist from Moscow.
