NeuroLogica launches mobile lung CT unit

Samsung NeuroLogica said it has launched the first mobile lung CT unit featuring an ambulance outfitted with the company's BodyTom CT scanner.

The unit will be deployed to bring lung cancer diagnosis and intervention to underserved populations in the Carolinas. The BodyTom scanner is a central feature of the unit; the portable, full-body, 32-detector-row CT scanner provides high-quality images of both soft tissue and bone, the company said.

NeuroLogica has previously launched mobile stroke care units equipped with its CereTom scanner model.

Built by emergency medical services (EMS) vehicle developer Frazer and funded by the Bristol-Myers Squibb Foundation in cooperation with the Levine Cancer Institute, the mobile unit aims to address common barriers to screening, including financial barriers, drive time, and lack of public transportation, NeuroLogica said. With the unit, patients will undergo lung cancer screening and learn about lung cancer in their own communities.
