I3 adds ED discrepancy reporting module to PACS

Intuitive Imaging Informatics (I3) has added a module to its ImageQube PACS software to handle discrepancies in image interpretations between emergency department (ED) physicians and radiologists.

The company's emergency department discrepancy functionality is composed of a preliminary findings tool and an ED discrepancy reporting tool.

The preliminary findings tool is used to create preliminary reports by ED physicians, radiology trainees, and other personnel who perform "wet reads." When the preliminary report is signed, it is also date-stamped. When a radiologist launches an exam with a pending preliminary report, selecting the ED discrepancy reporting icon displays the preliminary findings.

Radiologists then have the ability to either agree or disagree with the diagnosis, I3 said. Agreeing permits the entry of notes, while disagreeing presents three different levels of discrepancy, along with the ability to indicate whether the discrepancy is likely to be significant.
