iCAD to highlight Xoft clinical results at AAPM

iCAD is directing attention to a presentation involving its Xoft Axxent electronic brachytherapy system at the upcoming American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) meeting in Denver.

A team led by Dr. Sergio Lozares of Miguel Servet University Hospital in Zaragoza, Spain, will share preliminary clinical data on the use of Xoft to provide brachytherapy treatment for 36 endometrial cancer patients. The system delivered a lower dose of radiation to surrounding organs such as the bladder and rectum than would have been delivered by treatment with iridium-192 or cobalt-60 sources, according to the vendor.
