Proton therapy developer Mevion Medical Systems has completed the integration of an in-room CT scanner with the company's Verity patient positioning system for the Mevion S250 proton therapy unit at UF Health Cancer Center - Orlando Health.
The facility has begun treating patients with Mevion S250 in conjunction with the Airo mobile CT device, according to Mevion and UF Health. Three-dimensional CT-based localization uses high-precision stereotactic localization and tracking technology to enhance treatment accuracy and reduce patient positioning uncertainties.
