The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that it is establishing an Oncology Center of Excellence. Dr. Richard Pazdur will serve as its director.
The center will allow the oncology disease area's clinical review of drugs, biologics, and devices to be coordinated across the FDA's Office of Medical Products and Tobacco groups, the agency said.
Review criteria and application requirements for medical products will not change, but the center will allow for more streamlined review of oncology drugs and devices, according to the FDA.
