Ohio center opens doors with Varian system

The Cincinnati Children's/UC Health Proton Therapy Center has officially opened its doors, equipped with a ProBeam radiation therapy system from Varian Medical Systems.

The Ohio center has two treatment rooms offering image-guided intensity-modulated proton therapy (IMPT), as well as one room dedicated to research. Clinicians are now working with patients and plan to begin treatments in September.

This is the third center with Varian's ProBeam system to begin clinical operation in North America, according to the firm. The center will also use the Aria oncology information system with Eclipse treatment planning.
