Image-guided therapy firm Brainlab said it has enrolled several hospitals so far in its national stereotactic radiosurgery patient registry.
Current participants include the following:
- University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, CO
- University of Virginia Health System in Charlottesville, VA
- University of Southern California Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center in Los Angeles
- Mayfield Clinic at the University of Cincinnati
- Jefferson Hospital for Neuroscience in Philadelphia
- Norton Cancer Institute in Louisville, KY
- Carolina Neurosurgery and Spine Associates
- Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center
- Penn State Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA
- Northwell Health (formerly the North Shore-LIJ Health System) in Great Neck, NY
Five additional facilities are expected to join the patient registry by the end of the summer, Brainlab said.
The patient registry, launched by Brainlab in partnership with the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the American Society for Radiation Oncology, is gathering patient data to define national patterns of care in radiosurgery. The initiative aims to improve healthcare outcomes, support informed decision-making, and potentially lower the cost of care for patients, according to the vendor.
Ultimately, the patient registry will prospectively collect data from 30 U.S. hospitals and healthcare systems over a three-year period. The registry is currently gathering deidentified stereotactic radiosurgery data on nearly 400 patients affected by brain metastases, benign brain tumors, and arteriovenous malformations, Brainlab said.
