ACRO elects new president

The American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO) has elected Dr. James Welsh as president.

Welsh began his two-year term at ACRO's annual meeting in May. In 2017, he will transition to serving as chairman of the board for ACRO.

He recently concluded an eight-year term as advisor to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's Advisory Committee on the Medical Uses of Isotopes. He also served on RSNA's radiation oncology scientific program subcommittee and as an alternate councilor in the American College of Radiology (ACR).

Welsh is a professor, medical director, and director of clinical and translational research in the department of radiation oncology at Loyola University Chicago's Stritch School of Medicine. He is also the chief of radiation oncology at Edward Hines Jr. Veterans Affairs Hospital.
