GE inks healthcare technology deal with Egypt

GE Healthcare has formed a partnership with the Egyptian Ministry of Health to improve the nation's healthcare technology management system.

The agreement seeks to enhance and optimize technology use and performance, and it also provides scope to develop new health technology policies, according to the vendor. It also includes provisions to measure the clinical effectiveness and productivity of health technologies and to address technology management services such as education and training, GE said.

The agreement features a proposal to establish a biomedical center of excellence for Egypt. A feasibility study will be conducted in phase 1, prior to the development of a strategic operating plan for launching the center in phase 2, GE said. The center would be run by the Ministry of Health and Population in cooperation with GE and the World Health Organization (WHO).
