CIVCO to unwrap new product upgrades at ASTRO 2014

Ultrasound and radiotherapy products developer CIVCO Medical Solutions will bring a range of new patient positioning and immobilization offerings to next week's American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) meeting in San Francisco.

CIVCO's new Body Pro-Lok One stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) immobilization system is designed to enable customized setups in SBRT for varying patient types, according to the vendor. It features both tilt and lateral offset features, as well as an enhanced contour for improved clearance of the gantry, CIVCO said. The bridge secures directly to CIVCO's Universal Couchtop, avoiding the need for overlays and ensuring equivalent setups between CT and treatment.

CIVCO will also highlight developments with its Protura robotic patient positioning system. Protura's new 1.5.0 software provides an interface for users of Mosaiq software from Varian Medical Systems, CIVCO said.

The company also has several new additions to its Universal Couchtop Long Extension family, including a Kevlar package. In addition, CIVCO reported that its TruPoint Arch patient stabilization system has now received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance for MR environments.
