RSNA R&E Foundation awards $3.7M in grants

RSNA's Research and Education (R&E) Foundation will fund 94 grants totaling approximately $3.7 million in 2014.

The total is the largest amount ever distributed by the foundation in a single year, RSNA said. The grant recipients come from 44 different institutions across North America, and there are also two international recipients from the Netherlands and Sweden.

This year's projects include the use of hyperpolarized carbon-13 MRI to noninvasively monitor the liver and the use of 3D ultrasound to investigate hip dysplasia in infants. Educational initiatives include simulation-based training for CT protocols and the development of problem-based educational material for medical physics residency training.
