SIR launches quarterly magazine

The Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) has launched IR Quarterly, a new magazine covering the subspecialty of interventional radiology.

The magazine will include reporting on clinical trials, health policy, economics, and safety, among other topics related to the field, according to the society.

IR Quarterly's debut winter issue featured "Re-election Economics," an interventional radiologist's view of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, with an analysis of its effects on practice. In addition, a feature article detailed how participating in clinical trials is a good idea for doctors and patients.

Subsequent issues of IR Quarterly will carry articles on interventional radiologists partnering with hospitals and equipment manufacturers to improve radiation safety, the importance of remaining compliant with regulations such as HIPAA and Stark, and how to recognize and avoid publishing misconduct.
