Siemens revenue, profit rise in Q4

Strong earnings performance in its imaging and therapy systems businesses helped Siemens Healthcare to an increase in profit in its fiscal fourth quarter.

In the quarter (end-September 30), the vendor had revenues of 3.786 billion euros ($4.85 billion U.S.), up 11% on an actual basis and 4% on a currency-adjusted basis from the 3.407 billion euros ($4.37 billion U.S.) turned in a year ago. On a geographic basis, Asia, Australia, and the Americas contributed double-digit growth to revenue, the company said.

For the full fiscal 2012, Siemens Healthcare posted revenues of 13.642 billion euros ($17.38 billion U.S.), up 9% on an actual basis and 4% on a currency-adjusted basis compared to revenues of 12.517 billion euros ($15.947 billion U.S.) in 2011. The group's full-year profit was 1.815 billion euros ($2.312 billion U.S.), compared with a profit of 1.334 billion euros ($1.699 billion U.S.) in 2011.

Siemens Healthcare had a profit of 631 million euros ($809 million U.S.) for the quarter, compared with a profit of 494 million euros ($633 million U.S.) in the same quarter last year.
