RT receives Siemens Scholar Award

Eric Corona-LoMonaco, a radiation therapist and creator of a greeting-card line to benefit cancer patients, has won the second Siemens Scholar Award presented by Siemens Medical Systems' Oncology Care Group.

Corona-LoMonaco, who is based in Belmont, MA, will receive $3,000 toward obtaining his degree in radiation therapy. He hopes to become an administrative director for a cancer center, according to Siemens. He is currently developing "Cards for Hope," a non-profit greeting card company from which proceeds will be give to patients undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatment.

Judging for the scholarship is based on career essays as well as contributions made in an applied field outside of health education. The award is given in conjunction with the American Society of Radiologic Technologists.
