RSNA attendance edges down for 2003

Attendance at the 2003 edition of the RSNA conference was down slightly compared to a year ago, with an increase in professional attendance offset by a drop in exhibitor attendees.

According to preliminary unaudited numbers from the RSNA, total attendance at this year’s meeting was 58,959, compared with preliminary attendance figures of 59,205 for the 2002 edition of the meeting and final audited figures of 59,538. The figures are comparable to a preliminary attendance total of 53,205 and final audited attendance of 53,033 for the 2001 meeting, when fears of terrorism kept many radiology professionals from traveling to Chicago.

The RSNA’s preliminary unaudited figures indicate that professional attendance for this year’s show was 25,469 -- up 4% compared with preliminary unaudited numbers of 24,476, and up 5% compared with final numbers of 24,241 professional attendees in 2002. However, exhibitor registrations dipped 6%, with imaging companies sending 27,620 people to the show, compared with preliminary numbers of 29,323 and final numbers of 29,258 the year before. There were also 5,870 people who attended the 2003 RSNA meeting as guests, up 9% from last year.
