Mammotome elite is a single-insertion, multiple-sample, vacuum-assisted biopsy (VAB) device, featuring the company's TruVacT vacuum technology, according to Devicor. It provides nearly the same suction power as its traditional Mammotome VAB system, Devicor said.
The device is designed to help detect and treat breast cancer in ultrasound-guided breast and axillary lymph node biopsies. It includes a reusable holster, a charging base, and a single-patient-use disposable 13-gauge probe with a bladed insertion tip, Devicor said.
Mammotome elite received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance in March, and it has also garnered the European CE Mark.
