Novation nets contrast agent deals
 June 22, 2012 -- Group purchasing organization Novation has signed supply agreements with Bracco, GE Healthcare, and Lantheus Medical Imaging for the companies' contrast agents.

The contrast media product category awards include x-ray/CT, MRI, ultrasound, oral barium, and oral iodated contrast, according to Novation. GE's products will be purchased through Novation's private-label pharmacy, NovaPlus.
The x-ray/CT agreement was awarded to NovaPlus/GE, while the MRI contrast agent pact was given to Bracco and NovaPlus/GE. The ultrasound contracts were signed for Lantheus and NovaPlus/GE. Bracco will handle the oral barium supply, and the oral iodated agreement was awarded to NovaPlus/GE.
Novation estimates that the agreements, which go into effect on July 1, could result in savings of as much as 29% for its member hospitals. | |
