Photoacoustics combines the advantages of laser stimulation of targeted regions with ultrasound receive sensitivity and system processing to provide both morphologic and functional information, the company said.
By determining the receive sensitivity versus the frequency of the probe, Artis is able to establish an objective baseline of sensitivity performance of the probe's ultrasound component and match its sensitivity parameters to the intended clinical application, according to the firm.
Once this task has been completed, physicians can match the proper probe to the clinical application and also retest it over time to ensure continuous baseline performance levels, Acertara said.
