  • The following were the biggest barriers to achieving meaningful use, according to healthcare IT consulting firm Stoltenberg Consulting:

    • Lack of resources: 50%
    • Restricted time frames: 23%
    • Lack of buy-in from organizations: 15%
    • Competing health IT projects: 12%

    Also, the biggest health IT topics for 2014 were as follows:

    • ICD-10: 47%
    • Big data: 27%
    • Electronic health record implementation: 16%
    • Meaningful use: 10%

    The survey was conducted at the 2014 Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) annual conference in Orlando, FL, according to the company.
