The week's key organizers are the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), the Institute for e-Health Policy, and the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME). They are joined by 42 associations and nonprofit organizations, 18 regional extension centers and academic institutions, and 66 vendors.
The week of activities begins with a day-long consumer health IT summit. HIMSS is also sponsoring a site visit to George Washington Medical Faculty Associates to see how health IT applications work, as well as a policy summit on September 12 and 13. Other highlights of the week include several seminars on meaningful use, a Capitol Hill press conference, and the Capitol Hill Steering Committee on Telehealth and Healthcare Informatics' Health Information Technology Showcase.
Academic institutions, organizations, and vendors interested in becoming affiliated with National Health IT Week are encouraged to join. Information about the week is available here.
