  • Version 1.5 of Brit's Roentgen Works software adds HTML5 support for mobile devices, patient portals, and enhanced image manipulation capabilities, Brit said. Users can also access new and comparison studies regardless of where the study originated.

Brit will also present new patient study "morphing" capabilities on its DICOM routers, which can create a single-database view of patient studies across configured sites without requiring a master patient index (MPI), the company said. The routers can prefetch studies from multiple servers and facilities using select criteria that do not require the patient ID; the patient ID in a prefetched study is then morphed by the router into the original or trigger ID.

The prefetched IDs are stored into alternate ID fields in both the database and the DICOM header. By following this process, the morphing router creates a single, cross-facility patient record and allows clinicians to view all studies on a single timeline, according to the vendor. Unnecessary duplicate imaging can also be avoided, Brit said.
