  • AB 510, sponsored by Assemblymember Bonnie Lowenthal (D-Long Beach) modifies several elements of the original law (SB 1237) that radiology proponents considered impractical or poorly written.

The original legislation, undertaken in the wake of several high-profile cases of radiation overdoses in the state in 2009, was signed into law in 2010 and became effective July 1 of this year. Because the amendment was granted urgency status by the Legislature, AB 510 became effectively immediately upon its signing.
