Second-quarter healthcare revenues increased 8% to $4.44 billion (3.36 billion euros), compared with $4.12 billion (3.12 billion euros) in the second quarter of fiscal 2011. Profit decreased to a total of $560 million (424 million euros), compared with $595 million (450 million euros) in the second quarter of the previous fiscal year.
Siemens attributed the profit decrease to charges of $50 million (38 million euros) related to its Healthcare Agenda 2012 initiative; the company's Diagnostics unit accounted for $26 million (20 million euros) of these charges.
On a regional basis, Asia and Australia posted double-digit increases in both revenue and orders, highlighted by substantial growth in China.
