Congressional hearings on medical radiation rescheduled

February 19, 2010 -- A U.S. congressional hearing on medical radiation has been rescheduled for February 26 by the Subcommittee on Health of the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

Originally scheduled for February 10, the hearing, Medical Radiation: An Overview of the Issues, was postponed as a result of the snowstorms that brought the House of Representatives, the Senate, and Washington, DC-based federal government agencies to a standstill for a week.

Subcommittee chairman Rep. Frank Pallone Jr. (D-NJ) will preside over the hearing to discuss issues relating to rising medical radiation dose and errors in the diagnostic and therapeutic use of radiation. AuntMinnie.com has verified that at least five major professional associations have been invited to testify. The Energy and Commerce Committee has not yet made the entire list of hearing participants publicly available.

The hearings are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building on Capitol Hill.
