Elekta adds linac to Indian cancer center
May 2, 2012 -- Radiation oncology firm Elekta announced the sale and activation of a Synergy linear accelerator at Dr. Bhubaneswar Borooah Cancer Institute in Guwahati, India.

The sale represents the second major radiotherapy equipment sale to BBCI, a regional cancer institute located in the eastern Indian state of Assam. The Synergy system can be used to perform intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT), stereotactic radiosurgery, and stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT).
An inauguration ceremony attended by Dr. Manmohan Singh, the prime minister of India, was held on April 20.
