  • Nepean Cancer Care Centre of Sydney is using the firm's VMAT with Elekta's new Integrity R1.1 sixth-generation digital control system, and it has reduced total treatment time from 15 minutes to 10 minutes, according to Elekta.

VMAT delivers treatment in one or more high-speed arcs around the patient, allowing the radiation dose to conform to a tumor by adjusting the radiation beam's intensity. The digital control system allows the dose rate to be adjusted to its ideal value during delivery, making prescription delivery smoother and faster when compared to previous discrete dose rates, Elekta said.
