This new addition to the Aquilion CT product line can generate 80 unique slices per rotation, and it offers in-field upgradeability to 160 slices, the firm said.

Aquilion Prime 80 also features a 0.5-mm detector, a 7.5-million heat unit x-ray tube, and 0.35-sec scanning. The system has a 78-cm gantry aperture, designed to accommodate bariatric patients weighing up to 660 lb.

Toshiba's adaptive iterative dose reduction (AIDR) 3D software and National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) XR 25 dose-check software are standard features, the company said. AIDR 3D removes noise from images acquired with reduced radiation dose. The NEMA XR 25 software includes dose-alert and dose-notification features intended to enhance a radiologic technologists' awareness of the radiation dose being administered to patients. It also includes DICOM functionality for radiation dose tracking.
