  • The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) of St. Paul, MN, reported that nuclear medicine registered the largest decline of approximately 20% compared to 2008. The number of people taking the radiography exam decreased 3.2%, while radiation therapy exam volume slipped by 0.5%.

In a written statement, ARRT executive director Jerry Reid, Ph.D., said the declines are "reflective of the decreased number of graduates from educational programs which, in turn, is reflective of supply and demand within the profession. We've been through similar cycles in the past."
