Canon debuts wireless DR detector

Canon U.S.A. has introduced its CXDI-70C wireless portable digital radiography (DR) detector at its Canon Expo 2010 demonstration in New York City.

First shown as a prototype at the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) in Vienna earlier this year, CXDI-70C features a 14 x 17-inch imaging area, a film cassette, cable-free image transfer, and a weight of 7.5 lb, according to the Lake Success, NY-based firm.

In addition, it utilizes a new Canon-developed glass substrate with a pixel pitch of 125 microns; current Canon DR systems have a pixel pitch of 160 microns, Canon said. CXDI-70C also includes a cesium iodide scintillator.
