St. Jude gets clearance for EnSite Velocity

Cardiac technology developer St. Jude Medical has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance for its EnSite Velocity cardiac mapping system.

Designed to help physicians diagnose and guide therapy for abnormal heart rhythms, EnSite Velocity features new hardware and software compared with the company's previous EnSite system. In addition, EnSite Velocity's new OneMap tool allows for the creation of a detailed cardiac model and electrical map using multiple catheters and electrodes, according to the St. Paul, MN-based firm.

Another new feature, RealReview, provides real-time, side-by-side views of live procedures and previously recorded portions of procedures. EnSite Velocity is now available in the U.S.
