BioClinica buys Agfa's CardioNow unit

BioClinica of Newtown, PA, has acquired the CardioNow unit of Agfa HealthCare of Mortsel, Belgium.

CardioNow provides core labs, investigator sites, and medical device and pharmaceutical companies with a Web-based system for the secure, regulatory-compliant transmission and analysis of medical images for clinical trials.

With this addition, BioClinica will offer digital transmission technology designed to facilitate the blinding, sharing, tracking, and archiving of medical images for multicenter clinical trials as part of its current imaging services.

Imaging information also will be integrated with BioClinica Express digital data capture to enhance clinical trial processes for life science companies.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
