Electromagnetic navigation bronchoscopy developer superDimension announced the launch of the iLogic system for early lung cancer detection and diagnosis at this week's American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) meeting in Chicago.The device is the second-generation version of inReach, an electromagnetic navigation bronchoscopy minimally invasive tool, said the Minneapolis-based vendor. The technology is designed to extend visualization beyond the capabilities of the traditional bronchoscope to assess distant and previously inaccessible regions of the lung.
The latest version includes a new software platform with a simplified positioning and navigational system that is used primarily by pulmonologists. The virtual 3D bronchial tree used in the technology offers multiple navigation perspectives to improve detection and diagnosis, the firm said.
