Medavis touts Nuance integration in RIS
By AuntMinnie.com staff writers
October 30, 2009

PACS vendor Medavis has integrated the SpeechMagic speech recognition application from Nuance Communications into the workflow of its RIS software.

The purpose of speech recognition technology is to facilitate the generation of radiology reports, but dictations in most systems are recorded in a separate application and then transferred back to the RIS, explained Medavis, of Karlsruhe, Germany.

The integration of SpeechMagic from Nuance of Burlington, MA, means speech recognition is controlled within the medavis RIS and appears as a function in the RIS user interface. Medavis plans to showcase the new capability at the Medica 2009 conference.
