Carestream to highlight RIS, SuperPACS at RSNA
By AuntMinnie.com staff writers
November 2, 2009

Carestream Health will emphasize its SuperPACS architecture, as well as new functionality for its RIS software, at next month's 2009 RSNA meeting in Chicago.

Carestream will highlight advances in its RIS and SuperPACS offerings at RSNA 2009.
SuperPACS can create a global worklist from multiple vendors' PACS software, allowing onsite or remote radiologists to read from a global worklist. With a unified global worklist, customers can make optimized use of radiologists and specialists, according to the Rochester, NY-based vendor.

SuperPACS employs "tunneling" technology, allowing studies to be delivered on-demand to radiologists without the need for prefetching or prearchiving of image data at a central location, Carestream said. Patient information and metadata from existing archives are synchronized into a central database.

Other SuperPACS features include "intelligent" image streaming and support for a master patient ID.

In new RIS developments, the company will highlight its Carestream RIS software, which will be available commercially by the end of 2009. Features include strategic management reports that display staff and resource utilization to help administrators increase revenue opportunities.

In addition, the software supports interactive voice dictation and voice command/control, and users have the ability to select a standardized report based on procedure type, and to prepopulate patient and exam information. The software also enables a centralized staff of schedulers to view availability of rooms, equipment, and personnel across multiple locations.
