Speech recognition firm Nuance Communications of Burlington, MA, has released the results of a new study that shows the company's Dragon Medical software can accelerate the transition to and utilization of electronic health records (EHRs).
According to a survey completed by 1,255 physicians who use the software:
83% said it improved the quality of their electronic patient notes.
81% said it significantly reduced transcription spending.
69% said it made their EHR faster and easier to use.
In other company news, Nuance is collaborating with EHR vendors to launch the Dragon Medical EHR Certification Program, which is designed to optimize clinician use of EHRs by introducing a new standard of speech recognition interoperability.
Nuance made the announcements at this week's Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) meeting in Chicago.
