Planar teams up with NVIDIA

Display firm Planar Systems of Beaverton, OR, has formed a partnership with graphics-processor developer NVIDIA of Santa Clara, CA.

Planar will bundle NVIDIA's Quadro professional graphics offerings with its Dome diagnostic and clinical medical displays. The addition of Quadro technology offers improved 3D rendering performance as well as higher refresh rates, according to Planar.

Planar's full line of diagnostic displays will be available with Quadro as an option. The firms said they also plan to collaborate on their product development cycles.

NVIDIA recently launched a new version Model IV of its Quadro Plex visual computing system (VCS). Quadro Plex Model IV is designed for high-performance applications such as medical, styling and design, oil and gas, and scientific applications. It features a new unified architecture designed to deliver optimized graphical processing unit (GPU) performance, as well as a 3 GB frame buffer and accelerated 3D texture performance.
