SNM has received a $48,000 grant from the U.S. Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) to hold a conference to develop research on the comparative effectiveness of PET and other molecular imaging techniques.
With the money, SNM will host a workshop titled "Comparative Effectiveness in Molecular Imaging" on July 21 and 22 in the Washington, DC, area. The primary emphasis of the meeting will be on the diagnosis and management of cancer patients, but both cardiology and neurology also will be addressed.
The two-day workshop will review the current information on molecular imaging, current healthcare costs, and how clinical and cost-effectiveness research can address these issues to manage treatment and care of cancer patients in today's healthcare environment.
