Portable scanner developer NeuroLogica has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance for its inSPira HD portable high-resolution SPECT scanner.
Designed primarily for brain imaging, the battery-powered inSPira HD can be used in locations such as clinics, intensive care units, operating rooms, and emergency departments, according to the Danvers, MA-based vendor. It's capable of imaging any radioisotope energies between 80 and 200 keV for clinical applications such as epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, stroke, and Alzheimer's dementia, NeuroLogica said.
The system's method of SPECT detection, acquisition, and reconstruction allows for spatial resolution nearing 3 mm, NeuroLogica said.
