Philips begins selling PET/CT unit in U.S.

Philips Healthcare of Andover, MA, has begun shipping its Gemini LXL PET/CT scanner in North America.

First launched in Europe at the European Congress of Radiology in March, Gemini LXL is designed to be a cost-effective system for performing PET/CT scans for oncology and cardiology applications. Philips plans to highlight the system at the SNM meeting in Salt Lake City June 5-9.

The system features enhanced sensitivity for clinical procedures and image processing, along with 4D PET/CT capabilities. It also includes easier cardiac gating setup and data storage, as well as an application that simplifies the process of cardiac alignment.
