UltraSPECT nets FDA OK for software

Nuclear medicine firm UltraSPECT of Merrick, NY, has received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its attenuation correction/scatter correction (ACSC) software package.

The ACSC software is a field upgrade option for UltraSPECT's wide-beam reconstruction (WBR) cardiac image reconstruction software, which is used in conjunction with gamma cameras with access to CT-generated attenuation maps.

WBR products that can receive the ACSC upgrade include UltraSPECT's Xpress.Cardiac and Xpress3.Cardiac products, which enable halftime and quartertime acquisitions, respectively.
