Software developer Shina Systems has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance for its 3Di 3D/4D advanced visualization software.3Di relies on "cloud" architecture, allowing users to gain on-demand access to imaging data, advanced reformatting and viewing tools, and image processing on any Web-connected PC, according to the Caesaria, Israel-based firm. The software is available with pay-per-use pricing and no up-front costs, Shina said.
3Di can serve as a clearinghouse for sharing medical imaging studies among hospitals, physicians, and patients. Users can upload studies from any location and share them with authorized users anywhere, according to the firm.
The software's advanced visualization capabilities include general multimodality 3D reformations, cardiac CT analysis, CT calcium scoring (work-in-progress), virtual colonoscopy, and PET/CT fusion (work-in-progress).
