GE rolls out Discovery NM/CT 670

GE Healthcare of Chalfont St. Giles, U.K., has launched Discovery NM/CT 670, a new SPECT/CT system.

Discovery NM/CT 670 combines GE's BrightSpeed Elite16 multislice CT scanner with a newly designed SPECT gantry for enhanced positional flexibility, and new advancements in nuclear medicine detectors.

Imaging time can be as fast as 25 minutes for a bone scan, compared to 55 minutes for a traditional bone imaging protocol. This improves patient comfort and image quality and gives clinicians more confidence in their diagnosis, according to GE.

GE launched the system at this week's European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) meeting in Barcelona, Spain. Discovery NM/CT 670 is pending 510(k) clearance with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
