NeuroGrafix settles patent dispute

MRI software developer NeuroGrafix of Santa Monica, CA, has settled a patent infringement suit with Oak Tree Medical Imaging of Pasadena, CA.

NeuroGrafix accused Oak Tree of infringing on patents for what the company calls MR neurography, a technique for using MRI to visualize peripheral nerves in the body. The patent also covers diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) and tractography, which generates 3D color images of neural tracts in the brain, as well as fiber structure in the heart muscle.

Oak Tree paid NeuroGrafix $900,000 to settle the suit, according to NeuroGrafix. The company said it will use proceeds from the settlement to commercialize its software.
