PARCA adds new HIT professional certifications

The PACS Administrators Registry and Certification Association (PARCA) announced that it is offering two new certifications for healthcare IT professionals.

The Certified Professional EMR Specialist (CPEMS) certification is targeted to professional electronic medical record (EMR) administrators or specialists. Candidates for CPEMS need to have a good understanding of electronic health records and how they are used, as well as EMR standards and implementation.

Candidates for the new Certified Healthcare Enterprise Architect (CHEA) certification need to understand image enabling and EMR implementation. This certification also requires hands-on troubleshooting knowledge.

Both CPEMS and CHEA require that candidates have obtained a PARCA or Certified Imaging Informatics Professional certification.
