Not very long ago, it seems, I went to my first RSNA meeting. I was really impressed -- and I still am! Each year at RSNA, one gets a chance to peek ahead into the future: and ours is data. Data will allow us to step out of our black box of radiology and into our roles as physicians again.

When I survived the trip to Louisville and actually passed my radiology boards, I had crossed a milestone and never had to return -- except for a mint julep or two. But that's no longer the case, and most radiologists have to renew their certification every 10 years. Should we embrace or reject this new requirement?

Axial contrast-enhanced CT scan in a 28-year-old premenopausal woman shows an incidentally detected solid-appearing left ovarian lesion (solid arrow) anterior to the uterus (U), associated with trace ascites in the right adnexa and cul de sac (dashed arrows). At pathologic analysis, this was shown to be ovarian dysgerminoma. Two readers misdiagnosed this lesion, one as a leiomyoma and one as an ovarian fibroma.
