Sectra breast workstation receives 510(k)

Swedish PACS and digital mammography developer Sectra has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration 510(k) marketing clearance for its IDS5 workstation dedicated to breast imaging.

Tests of the breast imaging workstation were performed in cooperation with the Elizabeth Wende Breast Clinic in Rochester, NY, and included exams from a number of different modalities from a variety of vendors, according to Linkoping-based Sectra.

The workstation is part of the Sectra PACS for Breast Imaging system for the processing and archiving of all digital images used in mammography, the company said. The workstation will support computer aided detection (CAD) from Sunnyvale, CA-based R2 Technology using the clinical solutions network framework, Sectra said.
