B-K Medical of Herlev, Denmark previewed several new ultrasound scanners and transducers at the American College of Surgeons meeting in San Francisco this month.
The vendor, a wholly owned subsidiary of Peabody, MA-based Analogic, debuted its EXL series of scanners. The Hawk 2102 EXL color scanner is the flagship model, and features a dedicated transducer with deep Doppler sensitivity for vascular scanning. Its Type 8812 transducer has a large Doppler steering angle for deep vessels, as well as for those closer to the skin.
B-K’s Falcon 2101 EXL is a gray-scale system with many of the same features as the Hawk model, while the vendor’s Merlin 1101 is a portable ultrasound scanner whose Type 8570 transducer is the highest-frequency transducer available on the portable market, at a range of 6-12 MHz, according to the company.
