(Booth 922) Siemens Healthcare of Malvern, PA, will show its new Biograph mCT integrated PET/CT scanner at RSNA 2008.

Biograph mCT is designed for routine whole-body PET scanning in five minutes and features a large bore capacity, Siemens' ultrahigh-definition technology, and CT capabilities up to 128 slices. The system also features 2-mm uniform resolution throughout the field-of-view, as well as 0.33-mm isotropic resolution and a 0.30-sec rotation time.

With a small footprint, large 78-cm bore, a short tunnel, and an extra-wide, 500-lb-capacity bed, Biograph mCT is designed for a variety of patients, including pediatric, bariatric, and geriatric.

Biograph mCT also is designed to address the issues of scan time and radiation dose. With its ultralow-dose capability and superfast PET acquisition time, scanning can be less stressful for clinicians and patients, according to the company.
