Front Line Medical Technologies is expanding the availability and distribution of its Cobra-OS aortic occlusion device in U.S. and Canadian hospitals.

The company said patient success rates and interest from hospitals looking for trauma technology solutions are driving the increase in production of Cobra-OS.

The device allows for control of bleeding, resuscitation, and arterial occlusion for patients in emergency clinical settings. It provides full, intermittent, or partial occlusion depending on the patient's need. It also has a safety shoulder reservoir incorporated to help prevent aortic rupture during inflation.

Front Line said Cobra-OS has been used in unique situations such as treating a pregnant patient to help reduce bleeding linked to placenta percreta and bringing a patient back to life who had cardiac arrest and CPR for 30 minutes before arriving at the hospital.
